Macked, Hammered, Slaughtered and Shafted — An Evening with David F. Walker
The Center for Africana Futures at Texas Southern University is proud to present a special evening of film, scholarship, and cultural conversation featuring filmmaker, author, and Comicpalooza featured guest David F. Walker.
On May 21, 2026, CAF will host a screening of Macked, Hammered, Slaughtered and Shafted (2004), Walker’s acclaimed documentary exploring the rise, complexity, and enduring influence of Blaxploitation cinema. The screening will be followed by a live panel discussion examining the historical, political, and cultural legacy of Black representation in film and media.
This event is presented as a partner event of Comicpalooza University and reflects the Center’s ongoing commitment to engaging Black cultural production, media scholarship, and public dialogue through innovative community programming.
As one of the few HBCU-hosted events connected to Comicpalooza University programming, this evening positions Texas Southern University within a broader citywide conversation on film, fandom, storytelling, and Black creative expression.
